A sunny visit from a Wimbledon men's double winner....

So when I read in the local news paper Tuesday that the newly Men's double 2012 Wimbledon winner Frederik F. Nielsen would stop by the local city hall today, I just had to stop by. How often do you get the chance to meet a winner of this game? Even with the fact that Frederik is the first Dane to ever make it to the finals with his British tennis partner Jonathan Marray. And what a final, almost 3 hours before they could cheer for winning the game. Afterwards when I saw interview and read a bit about Frederik, it was refreshing to see a person who cared more for the game he played than the fame that followed. Sure it will make life easier on the tennis part, I hope there will be more great tennis adventure out there for Frederik.

All the while the congratulations took place at the local city hall, Frederik was humbled by the attention - which he in interviews have said was a bit too much at times - so it was a good thing that he knew quite a few of the people at the local city hall who showed up. And people waited patiently while listening to Frederik answering question or just simply shake hands, signing signatures and took his time to those who came up to him. It was a bit surprisely that not many more people showed up, it could be due to the event taking place at 11am and about an hour ahead.

There is one thing that can get Danish people talking and that's talking about the weather. I had in the morning dreaded it would be heavy rain when the event took place - it was indoor, but there is a porch where there is a great view over the city center. The good part of the weather? Frederik shows up in a yellow t-shirt (the only one in the crowd.... ), but not only did the weather hold, the sun actually came out for about 2 hours before the rain came..... "A sunshine legend stopped by" could the newspaper title be..... ?

The speeches were short and Frederik also said a few words, from then on it was just to greet him and congratulate him on his win once more.

A movie title comes to mind: "For the love of the game"...... Congras Frederik and here's to more tennis your way.......

I will post more photos, but I am waiting to hear if the local newspaper will use some of my photos. So for now there is these two photos...... come back again Saturday to see more - I should know by then if the newspaper will use my photos or not.....

23rd of July 2012, oh well just posted some more of the photos as I never heard back from the local newspaper :-)
